“Health and Exercise Department: “Where Fitness Lives”
Now that the 2015-2016 academic year has come to an end, I want to take the time to outline a few highlights of the spring semester.
Impressively, the HES majors club was successful on many fronts, assisting at the TCNJ Wellness Fair, collecting hundreds of pairs of shoes for the Re-Run Shoe Drive, and starting the first TCNJ Exercise is Medicine (EIM) Student Group. Exercise is Medicine is a global health initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) that is focused on encouraging health care providers to include physical activity when designing treatment plans for patients and referring their patients to EIM Credentialed Exercise and Exercise Professionals.
EIM is committed to the belief that physical activity is integral in the prevention and treatments of diseases and should be regularly assessed and “treated” as part of all healthcare. HES wants to take a proactive approach and bring a variety of physical activity challenges to campus in order to bring awareness (and fun) to the college community. Be on the lookout.
